1. Meet with Dr. Irfaan Salyani for an Initial Consultation
Your Invisalign® journey begins when you schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Salyani. During this visit, we’ll:
- Evaluate your teeth, bite, and dental history
- Discuss your smile goals, alignment concerns, and whether Invisalign® is the right solution for you
- Help you complete a smile assessment if needed to assess your suitability
This is a great opportunity to ask any questions about Invisalign — from treatment benefits to cost and insurance coverage.
2. Customized Treatment Planning & 3D Smile Preview
Once you choose to proceed:
- We’ll take digital scans (or impressions), x-rays, and photos of your teeth
- Using those images, we’ll create a 3-D model of your teeth and map out a precise treatment plan detailing how your teeth will move and approximately how long the treatment might take
- This plan gives you a virtual preview of your future smile, enabling you to see projected results before starting
Every plan is custom — tailored to your unique dental structure and desired outcome.
3. Receiving and Wearing Your Custom Aligners
- Once your aligners are manufactured, you’ll receive a series of custom-made, clear, BPA-free aligners.
- They are smooth, comfortable, and much less noticeable than traditional braces.
- To achieve optimal results, you should wear your aligners 20–22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, brushing, and flossing.
As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into their planned positions.
4. Progression — New Aligners Every 1–2 Weeks
- Every 2 weeks (as per your plan), you’ll switch to the next set of aligners.
- We schedule follow-up appointments (typically every 6 weeks) to monitor your progress, assess alignment, and address any fit or comfort issues.
- As long as you stay consistent with wear and visits, you’ll steadily work toward your new smile.
5. What to Expect: Timeline & Results
Because every smile and alignment issue is unique, the length of treatment varies.
Mild crowding or spacing:
- Approximately 6-8 months
- Fewer aligners needed, faster visible results
Moderate alignment or bite issues:
- Approximately 10-12 months
- Might involve attachments and refinements
More complex misalignment or bite correction:
- Approximately 12-18 months
- More aligners, possibly refinements or adjustments
Visible changes often begin within 6–10 weeks.
6. Refinements & Final Touches (If Needed)
Occasionally, teeth may need extra shifting or small adjustments toward the end of treatment. In those cases:
- Additional aligners (“refinement trays”) may be prescribed
- Attachments — if used — will be removed once treatment is complete
These steps help ensure your final result is as precise and natural as possible.
7. Retention — Keeping Your Smile Perfect
After finishing aligner treatment:
- We may recommend custom retainers to maintain your new tooth alignment
- Retainers are usually worn full-time initially, then nightly long-term to prevent teeth from shifting back
This retention phase is a critical part of preserving your investment in a straighter smile.
